That piece of history, known as “The Dexter,” tells the story of Newport’s commitment to fire safety, dating back to 1832. This presentation explores the origins of Newport’s fire department, the dedication of its firefighters throughout the years, and the community’s effort to preserve its history. Discover how generations of brave men and women have answered the call, risking their lives to protect Newport.
